Air Canada announced back in October that it would be bringing back flights between Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) beginning yesterday, March 31st. The seasonal service took flight as scheduled and will run through October 2025.

Air Canada will fly the route 4x weekly (on Mondays, Thursdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays) using a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This offers passengers a choice of 30 Business Class, 21 Premium Economy, and 247 Economy Class seats. Air Canada operates its Maple Leaf Lounges in both Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to provide guests with a space to relax and work before both their outbound and inbound flights.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue & Network Planning and President of Cargo, said:

We are thrilled to resume our Ottawa trans-Atlantic services linking Canada’s capital city and London Heathrow, home to one of the world’s most iconic travel destinations and international gateways. With the wide array of connections available at Heathrow throughout Europe, the Middle EastAfricaIndia and more, Air Canada’s OttawaHeathrow flights offer easy international flight options to and from Canada’s National Capital region. We are proud to support international business and corporate travel, tourism, people visiting friends and family, and we look forward to welcoming our customers onboard.”

Executives were on hand yesterday to celebrate the new route. Air Canada will offer up to 229 weekly flights to/from Ottawa in 2025. The airport will also serve as a test location for new customer service initiatives to improve the travel experience for passengers across its network. The airline will also begin taking delivery of its new Airbus A321XLR fleet in late 2025, which could make this route become a year-round option versus seasonal.

Anthony’s Take: Air Canada brought back London flights from Ottawa. This new option is one of up to 229 weekly flights to/from Ottawa this year.
