Capital One is apparently experiencing the same overcrowding issues plaguing the Centurion Lounge by American Express, Delta Sky Club® and other lounges in the United States. Starting in 2025, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders will lose access to its own branded lounges.

Like American Express (Centurion Lounge reviews here) and Chase (lounge review here), Capital One has opened its own branded lounges at select US airports. These are currently located Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) (review here), Denver International Airport (DEN), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Beginning in January 2025, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders will no longer have lounge access on a complimentary basis. These cards currently offer two lounge passes per year. Cardmembers will be able to buy access at a discounted rate of $45 per person (this normally costs $65 per person).

While this is certainly a devaluation, these cards have annual fees of $100 and the inclusion of lounge passes was generous in the first place. Capital One Venture X Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders will see no changes to their access to the lounges.

Anthony’s Take: I support this move as these lounges have become as crowded as all of the others in the United States. Something needs to give and those paying higher annual fees (like those on the Venture X at $395) should be prioritized.

Anthony’s Credit Card Pick: I love the lounges that the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card allows me to access. I’ve been using this card more and more this year. While it does have an annual fee of $395, it provides many travel benefits like a $300 annual credit for bookings through Capital One Travel, up to a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®, and 10x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel as well as 5x miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel.
