Condor Flugdienst GmbH or as it’s more commonly known, Condor, is a German airline focused on leisure destinations. Like Lufthansa, Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) is its primary hub. The carrier just announced that it will be launching service to Miami International Airport (MIA) beginning in May 2024.

Condor will connect the two cities 3x weekly on an Airbus A330-900neo. The aircraft is equipped with 30 seats in Business Class, 64 in Extra Legroom Economy, and 216 in Economy Class. The airline has one of the coolest or tackiest liveries depending on your taste. The seasonal service will run until September 2024.
Lufthansa currently flies between Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) and Miami International Airport (MIA) daily using a Boeing 747-8. It will be interesting to see if Condor causes Lufthansa to be more competitive with fares as it is usually more inexpensive.
We flew Condor once between Santorini’s Thira International Airport (JTR) and Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) in August 2021. It was a tight space in European Business Class (with the middle seat blocked), but I liked that they gave us a thermal cup as an amenity kit on such a short flight.
Anthony’s Take: It’s great to see Condor serving more US cities and offering passengers in both the US and Germany more options to connect nonstop.

More options is better for sure but I’m still a bit puzzled why Lufthansa would basically compete with themselves on this route.
It looks like Condor no longer has Lufthansa as a partial owner and the company is now owned by Attestor Capital. I thought they had a partial stake as well.
Looking forward to seeing this interesting livery at MIA. America’s arguably most interesting plane spotting airport just got even more interesting.
