Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City

I had to attend a conference in Salt Lake City for work and was booked at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City. The hotel opened in October 2022 and it still has a bit of that new car smell. It’s attached to the Salt Palace Convention Center, which has 60,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel is a modern, spacious accommodation with lots of amenities for both business and leisure travelers.

Anthony’s Take: The hotel feels brand new and has tons of amenities. My room was spacious, well designed, and comfortable. The Regency Club had a nice breakfast spread as well as snacks and drinks in the afternoon. If you’re attending a conference, you can’t get a more convenient hotel. I also appreciated that the hotel had several restaurants, a 24-hour market, a fitness center with Peloton bikes, and an outdoor pool.

Booking

I was booked into a 1 King Bed room through my company. We had a rate designated for the convention, but it was in line with the Standard Rate above. If you’re redeeming World of Hyatt points, this hotel ranges between 9,000 points for a standard room and 30,000 points per night for a premium suite (depending on if the date commands an off-peak, standard, or peak redemption).

Transportation to the Hotel

I took an Uber Premium from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to the hotel. It cost $32 and took around 13 minutes for the 7.4-mile ride. Returning to the airport cost around the same and took about an equal amount of time.

Check-in

I arrived around 9:00 PM and my room was ready. The lobby is huge with many seating areas, a 24-hour market, and a restaurant. It also directly connects to the Salt Palace Convention Center. As a Globalist, I was granted an upgrade to a 1 King Bed View Corner Room as well as access to the Hyatt Regency Club. I did not need a late checkout, but it was offered. Check-in was speedy and the agent was helpful in giving a quick overview of the property. I was in my room a few minutes later.

The hallways are new and freshly painted. The carpet was clean throughout.

There was also a filtered water dispenser in each hallway.

1 King Bed View Corner Room (2103)

There are 700 rooms including 33 suites at the hotel. I was assigned a room on the 21st floor.

Immediately inside the door was an open closet with hangers and space for a suitcase. The room did not come with a luggage rack or an iron and ironing board.

Next to the closet, there was a bag with a blanket and pillows.

A coffeemaker, coffee, and condiments are located below the shelf with the blanket.

The safe and an empty refrigerator were below. Two bottles of water were inside the fridge. These were complimentary for Globalists and $3 for everyone else if consumed.

The king-sized bed and nightstands were to the left of the entrance.

To the right of the bed is a small desk. There are plenty of outlets throughout the room.

Next to the desk, there is a chair and lamp.

It’s a great spot to check out the view.

The bathroom is across the room (behind the closet area). There is a large, well-lit mirror, a single-sink vanity, toilet, and glassed-in shower.

The toilet had plenty of room around it.

Toiletries were Pharmacopia brand (as is standard at Hyatt Regency hotels).

The shower had plenty of space and the water pressure was good.

There were wall-mounted bottles of Pharmacopia shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower.

Regency Club

This Hyatt Regency has a lounge with breakfast offerings and snacks in the afternoon on the fifth floor. I ate breakfast here and loved that I could grab water and ginger ale throughout the day.

A desk was directly inside the door, but it was not staffed at any time I visited.

Breakfast includes a good selection of hot and cold choices.

Coffee and drinks are available throughout the day. I was happy to see that the lounge stocked ginger ale.

Snacks in the afternoon included Kind bars, cookies, and fruit.

There was also some local taffy. I love when lounges feature local products.

Plenty of seating was available in the lounge and there were hardly any other people the three times I visited.

There are plenty of tables around the buffet.

Public Areas & Amenities

The hotel offers tons of seating in its huge lobby. This is also where you’ll find the 24-hour market and direct access to the convention center. On the sixth floor, there is a fitness center and outdoor pool. The pool deck was closed during my visit both times I went to take a picture.

The gym has lots of new equipment.

I was excited to see Peloton bikes.

Towels and bottled water were on hand in the fitness center.

Market is open 24/7. It has prepared food, drinks, and snacks.

Overall Impression:

You can’t beat the location of this hotel if you’re headed to the convention center. It’s also convenient for anything you want to do downtown. The rooms are comfortable and the Regency Club offers a nice breakfast and snacks. The other amenities are top notch.
