Last week, I wrote about how Turkish Airlines suspended its partnership with Rocketmiles over a Pride email sent with its logo on it. Rocketmiles issued an unnecessary apology, but Turkish still ceased its participation. Unlike Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa is standing as an ally for the LGBTQ+ community with its latest marketing campaign and the continued service of its Pride plane that debuted in 2022.

Lufthansa Pride

Lufthansa Airlines Pride marketing campaign entitled “The World Says Yes to You” has started. The campaign highlights three individuals working to support the LGBTQ+ community. These include Konstantinos in Athens and his “Queer Archive” events, exhibitions and festivals, Nuala, who runs a surf school for queer people in Brazil, and Brian, the president of the Gay Rodeo Association in the US.

Carsten Hoffmann, Head of Brand Experience at Lufthansa Airlines, said:

Lufthansa brings guests of all nations and cultures together and welcomes everyone on board regardless of gender, age, ethnic origin, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or identity. For queer people, however, traveling the world can often be associated with a feeling of discomfort: not everyone is welcomed everywhere with open arms. With our new Pride campaign, Lufthansa is celebrating people and places that embrace queer life. And, in doing so, we’re helping queer people discover such places and more, all around the world.”

Lovehansa

Lufthansa also supports diversity with its Airbus A320 neo D-AINY. It’s been flying throughout Europe with the “Lovehansa” handle in rainbow colors since June 2022 to serve as “an ambassador for openness and commitment to people in their diversity.” The carrier is also one of the main sponsors of Frankfurt Christopher Street Day Parade this year.

Lovehansa Interior

Anthony’s Take: I love the rainbow touches and more importantly the support that Lufthansa puts behind its Pride initiatives. This is more than just adding rainbows, Lufthansa’s commitment to diversity can be seen here and with other initiatives throughout the year.

All I can say is who cares. I don’t care how gay or straight anyone is. If we want to be equals let’s cut all this stupidity out out.

That’s easy to say when you’re not part of a marginalized group. If you had to worry about your right to marry, to raise a family, to seek healthcare, etc. you might have a different perspective. This “stupidity” needs to continue to be supported and highlighted as long as homophobia and transphobia are around.

So…please keep your Western ideology in the West….no need to export it…..And, no, not all values are “universal values”. Proud Anatolian.

LGBTQ+ people are not “Western ideology.” We exist everywhere.

Well what do you expect, Anthony? The whole world to embrace homosexuality in lockstep? Well, they aren;t going to. And the same world of Islam that lefties across the USA are always deferential to (unlike Catholicism) is a religion that has NO tolerance for same sex relations. They don’t, their adherents don’t and they aren’t going to. And for airlines like Turkish, expecting them to buck that trend is naive and stupid. Sorry dude, but you need to get a clue. The real world is quite different than West Hollywood or Greenwich Village.

And it’s starting in the US, as evidenced by the all-Muslim city council of Hamtramck, MI banning the pride flag from being flown from official flag poles because of respecting the rights of the local Muslim community. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Jesus, it’s like TrollFest 2023. What’d you do, build a bridge to attract them all? If only they were secure in their own sexuality they wouldn’t need to spew the bile at others.

Yes. I don’t know why they’re all coming to visit here.
