Rocketmiles is a travel booking website that allows users to earn airline miles or other loyalty program points when they book hotel stays. The platform aims to incentivize travelers by offering them the opportunity to earn additional rewards on top of the benefits they would typically receive from their chosen hotel loyalty program. Rocketmiles has lots of partners, but apparently Turkish Airlines has suspended its participation after a Pride-themed email was sent.

Rocketmiles sent an email wishing customers “Happy Pride Month.” The Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles logo was included in the email and it apparently upset someone at the airline. Turkish Airlines claims the partnership is “temporarily suspended,” but it has not provided a timeline as to its return.

Unfortunately, this is not the first backlash that LGBTQ+ Pride has caused this year. People have protested merchandise sold at Target, forced Starbucks to take down Pride decorations, and let’s not even get started on the whole Bud Light debacle over a trans woman being featured on a can.

I appreciate companies providing visibility for Pride each year, but I agree with Lucky at One Mile at a Time that it takes much more than just some rainbow-themed logos to make a difference. I’m disappointed in Rocketmiles for backing down and issuing an apology. There should be no need to apologize for an email like this and companies need to include promoting inclusivity.

Anthony’s Take: I get needing to be culturally sensitive, but Rocketmiles was rather spineless here. Too bad if some people got upset over an email. It’s Pride month. If you’re offended by love, then stay home.

Any blogger who, in the future, promotes Turkish Airlines products, services, routes, or offerings is promoting a company that is now on record against the LGBTQIA community.

This works both ways.

Or a blogger ignoring a great Turkish airlines deal is not doing their job but rather censored by a bunch of hypocrites.
