I had to be in Cincinnati once again for a short overnight. With a flight from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) early the next morning, I decided to spend the night near the airport in Kentucky. The Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Airport South/Florence got the job done. It looks newly renovated (or at least pretty new as it opened in November 2017). The room, service, and location were all fine and if you need to be near the airport, this is a decent choice.
Anthony’s Take: I was in Ohio for less than a day and the hotel worked well. If you’re looking to stay longer, it’s not a bad area to be in. If you don’t want to leave, the hotel offers laundry, a fitness center, and a mini market.

Booking
I booked a Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed on a “Member Flexible Rate.” It cost $114 plus tax. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 20,000 and 39,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points per night.

Transportation to/from the Hotel
I rented a car and drove from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to the hotel. It took 17 minutes for the 6.4-mile drive. The return trip took around the same time.
Location
As mentioned, the hotel is easily accessible from the airport and close to the highways that you’ll need to take to get to downtown Cincinnati and around the area. It’s also not far from the Creation Museum, Ark Encounter, Kentucky Speedway, and Great American Ball Park if you’re visiting on vacation.

The hotel opens with a clean and updated lobby. There is a good amount of seating here with a large counter and tables near the restaurant.

Water is available near reception.

Check-In
Reception is immediately to the left upon entering. I arrived around 1:00 PM and my room was ready. The agent was friendly and quickly went through check-in. She upgraded me to a King, Balcony room. The hotel does not have suites, but this was a suite marketed as a larger room. I chose points as a welcome amenity. She then printed my keys and I was off to my room.

The elevator is down the hall from reception. Most of the amenities are nearby on the ground floor.

The elevator lobby and hallways on my floor were clean and in good repair.

King, Balcony (230)
There are 78 rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Airport South/Florence.

The room opened into a living room with a chair right by the door.

The counter that lined the wall did not really serve a purpose.

The living room also held a couch, ottoman, and a few tables.

There was also a desk and minibar combo area. A TV was mounted above.

A refrigerator and microwave were also found here.

A Keurig was on the counter along with cups, coffee, and condiments.

A balcony was off of the living room. This overlooked the highway.

A door led to the bathroom and bedroom.

The bathroom was a decent size. It offered a ton of counter space and a single vanity.

A bar of soap and a makeup removal wipe were next to the sink.

The shower was a standard size and offered good water pressure and temperature.

Bottles of 39° North Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash were mounted to the wall.

The toilet was spaced well away from the other fixtures.

Outside of the bathroom was a closet. It held extra blankets, an iron and ironing board, and a blowdryer.

The bedroom was to the right. It held a king-sized bed, nightstands, a dresser, and a chair along with a TV mounted to the wall.

The TV was mounted across from the bed.

The chair was near the windows.

Public Areas & Amenities
Amenities include a fitness center, a restaurant in the lobby, a laundry room, and a mini market (pictured above).

The laundry room was on the ground floor.

The fitness center was nearby and offered an adequate amount of equipment.

Towels and water were on offer.
Overall Impression:
I had a good stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Airport South/Florence. There was nothing particularly notable here, but it feels newer and worked for me for this short 18-hour trip.
