Hyatt has announced that the Grand Hyatt at SFO (my review here) has been named the Best Airport Hotel in North America at the 2026 World Airport Awards by Skytrax. The property also earned global recognition, ranking as the second-best airport hotel in the world. The annual World Airport Awards are considered among the most prestigious honors in the aviation industry (based on one of the largest independent global airport customer satisfaction surveys). Having stayed at this hotel, I agree that it is amazing.

Since opening in 2019, the Grand Hyatt at SFO has redefined what travelers can expect from an airport hotel by combining direct airport access with upscale accommodations and modern design. Located on the grounds of San Francisco International Airport (SFO), the hotel is directly connected to all terminals via the airport’s 24-hour AirTrain system to offer guests a seamless transition from flight to hotel.

The hotel features 351 guest rooms with many offering views of the airport or San Francisco Bay. Dining is centered around Quail & Crane, the hotel’s signature restaurant, which highlights California-inspired cuisine with Asian influences. Guests also have access to the Grand Club (a 24-hour lounge offering breakfast, snacks, evening hors d’oeuvres and beverages throughout the day).

In addition to leisure amenities, the hotel caters to business travelers with more than 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space. A 24-hour fitness center and wellness-focused services are also available to help guests adjust to different time zones and maintain their routines while traveling.

My favorite feature was the binoculars included in my suite. I used these to watch planes on the tarmac below.

Casper van Eldik Thieme, General Manager of the Grand Hyatt at SFO, said:

We are deeply honored to be recognized by travelers from around the world. This award is a testament to the dedication and care our colleagues bring to every guest interaction, and to our commitment to delivering a world-class experience for guests and World of Hyatt members visiting or passing through San Francisco.”

Anthony’s Take: The recognition from Skytrax highlights what a great property this is and positions it as one of the leading airport hotels both in North America and globally. I couldn’t agree more.
