Back in October, I wrote about Delta Air Lines adding three new routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). These were scheduled to begin on June 16th, but one of the three has now been cancelled before it began. Flights to/from Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) got the axe and Delta is now planning to add flights 1x weekly to/from Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) on June 13th.

With this change, Delta will offer the following routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS):

  • Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN)
  • Cancún International Airport (CUN)
  • Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
  • John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH)
  • Denver International Airport (DEN)
  • Glacier Park International Airport (FCA)
  • Indianapolis International Airport (IND)
  • Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
  • Kansas City International Airport (MCI)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • McAllen International Airport (MFE)
  • Memphis International Airport (MEM)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA)
  • Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Anthony’s Take: American tried to make Austin a focus city and failed. It has since cut way back. Delta continues to add and fight for an even larger slice of the airport’s passengers and it does not appear to be slowing down.
