Marriott is ending October with a brand debut in one of the world’s most coveted destinations: the Maldives. The hotel giant has opened The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection. This marks the first Autograph Collection property in the island nation. Set within the pristine Gaafu Alifu Atoll, approximately 90 minutes by seaplane from Malé International Airport (MLE), the new resort introduces a new vision of luxury.

Spread across two untouched private islands surrounded by coral gardens and turquoise lagoons, The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives offers an intimate escape featuring just 38 private villas (each with its own infinity pool and expansive outdoor space). The villas range from 650 to over 4,100 square feet and are among the most spacious accommodations in the region.

Guests can choose from four distinct categories:

  • Island Villas: secluded among tropical foliage with direct beach access
  • Overwater Villas: suspended above the lagoon with steps leading straight into the ocean
  • Two-Bedroom Ocean Villas: perfect for families or groups, offering panoramic views and generous living space
  • The Halcyon Grand Estate: a three-bedroom luxury residence complete with a rooftop terrace and private lagoon access.

Each villa draws from the region’s maritime heritage, featuring handcrafted interiors, natural textures, and modern comforts that merge with the surrounding seascape. Every guest is paired with a Halcyon Butler. They are dedicated to curating bespoke itineraries, private dining, marine excursions, and wellness experiences tailored to guest’s individual preferences.

Dining at The Halcyon offers a mix of global flavors and local inspiration. The resort features five venues that blend fine cuisine with striking settings:

  • Thari offers all-day dining with island-inspired and international dishes.
  • Yuzu presents an elegant fusion of Japanese and Peruvian influences along the lagoon.
  • The Firepit brings a communal energy with flame-grilled specialties served under the stars.
  • Yapa Sunset Bar invites guests to enjoy handcrafted cocktails, tapas, and sashimi with South American flair.
  • Bell Bar, a sophisticated lounge named for explorer H.C.P. Bell, pays tribute to the golden age of travel through rare spirits and curated cocktails.

Guests can also indulge in private dining experiences (from romantic beachfront dinners to champagne sandbank picnics).

The Halcyon Spa offers a holistic range of treatments, including sound therapy, energy alignment, and couples’ wellness journeys. Guests can join sunrise yoga sessions, meditation rituals, or personalized multi-day wellness programs focused on movement, nutrition, and rejuvenation.

Adventure seekers can dive into marine exploration led by resident biologists, embark on Marine Butler-guided snorkeling or diving excursions, or try traditional Maldivian line fishing aboard a dhoni. Families will find a dedicated children’s program emphasizing environmental stewardship through coral planting, marine workshops, and eco-adventures.

The opening of The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives represents a significant moment for Marriott’s Autograph Collection. I love many of the hotels in the portfolio of nearly 350 hand-selected properties around the world known for their individuality. Rates at the new resort start around $1,100 per night. Award redemptions begin at 112,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points per night.

Anthony’s Take: The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives looks amazing and is another incredible points option for those looking to escape to the Maldives. I have never been to the island nation, but it’s on the list for some day.
