As I wrote about back in April, EVA Air began a new route between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) yesterday. The Taiwanese airline, known for its Hello Kitty jets and lounges, began 3x weekly service (on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) from the Texas airport. This will increase to 5x weekly in November and to daily by the end of 2025.

EVA Air will use Boeing Boeing 787-9 aircraft on this route. These offer 26 Royal Laurel (Business Class), 28 Premium Economy, and 224 Economy Class seats. To celebrate the launch of the new route, EVA Air organized a party at the gate. Guests had the chance to win limited-edition EVA Air prizes and all passengers on board the inaugural flight received special gifts from EVA Air to celebrate the launch.

EVA Air President, Clay Sun, said:

EVA Air’s new route builds on nearly 30 years of partnership with Dallas-Fort Worth, which began with our cargo operations. Since 1998, we have proudly operated cargo flights between Dallas–Fort Worth and Taipei, supporting trade, supply chain resilience, and economic opportunity. Those years of experience and partnership have laid the foundation for what we now inaugurate—a direct, reliable, and convenient service for our passengers. Our new route will begin with three weekly flights, increase to five in mid-November, and reach daily service by the end of this year. When that happens, EVA Air will serve nine passenger gateways with 94 weekly flights between Taiwan and North America—more than any other Taiwanese carrier. Passengers arriving in Taipei on a morning BR49 flight from the U.S., as well as other North American flights, can effortlessly connect to more than 450 weekly EVA Air flights throughout Asia without undergoing additional security screening.”

The other exciting part of this new route is that it was the first to offer EVA Air’s new Premium Economy seats. EVA Air was the world’s first airline to introduce a Premium Economy Class back in 1992. It is now redefining the category again with the debut of its fourth-generation seats. The new Premium Economy cabin represents a significant step forward in both comfort and cabin design. Configured in a 2-3-2 layout with 28 seats, it offers 42 inches of seat pitch, cradle-style recline, and leather upholstery. Each seat comes equipped with a 15.6-inch HD touchscreen, individual power outlets, USB ports, and tray tables designed to accommodate personal devices. Additional enhancements include privacy panels, expanded personal storage, and improved accessibility features for both comfort and inclusivity.

Anthony’s Take: The Hello Kitty jet flies to Chicago and I really want to fly it. Congrats to EVA Air on this new route.
