EGYPTAIR has formally submitted a request to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) seeking approval to launch two new long-haul services to the United States. The airline plans to begin flights from Cairo International Airport (CAI) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in May 2026 and to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in June 2026.

With these additions, EGYPTAIR’s US footprint will expand significantly. The airline currently serves Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Chicago and Los Angeles will become its fourth and fifth US gateways, enhancing connectivity for both business and leisure travelers between Egypt, the Middle East, and the United States.

The new services reflect EGYPTAIR’s broader strategy of using its forthcoming Airbus A350s to expand its long-haul reach while positioning Cairo as a stronger hub for transatlantic travel and providing more nonstop links between North America and the Middle East.

Anthony’s Take: I enjoyed visiting Egypt and would go back again someday. Flights from Chicago would definitely make it easier.
