Delta Air Lines has been seen as the most “woke” of the major US carriers. Now, it looks like the Atlanta-based airline is shifting with the tides and adopting some of the language that the current President of the United States has been pushing with his agenda. Internal documents reveal that Delta is changing internal documents to reflect the “Gulf of America” as well as how it refers to NOTAMs. These changes have pleased President Trump as he shared a post around them on his Truth Social.

Delta Trump

Changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” was one of the first Executive Orders that Trump signed when he took office for his second term. The rest of the world still refers to the body of water as the Gulf of Mexico, but Delta has updated its pilot’s manual with this change. Additionally, NOTAMs (which were historically “notice to airmen” and changed to “notice to air missions” to be more gender inclusive during the Biden administration) have been reverted to there original definition in Delta’s materials. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) made both of these changes and Delta claims that it is not trying to be more MAGA friendly, but simply following FAA directives.

Anthony’s Take: Let’s see if United also updates its materials to reflect these changes. Scott Kirby has been pretty vocal in his praise of tariffs while cozying up to the Trump administration. I’ll bet United also makes these edits and if questioned pulls the same “we’re just following the FAA.” I don’t think that either of these things needed renaming or that they are the biggest issues facing the United States by any measure.
