Southwest Announces Its 15th Tropical Destination: St. Maarten

Southwest Airlines announced flights to/from St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King International Airport (STT) would be added to its route map earlier this summer. This will the Dallas-based carrier’s 14th tropical destination when flights begin in early 2026. This new route was only one of two Caribbean routes that Southwest had planned. Today, it announced that flights to/from St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) will begin on April 7th.

Flights will be offered from both Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). These begin on April 7th and will be offered 2x weekly. The announcement marks Southwest’s first new international destination since 2021. The airline currently flies to the following destinations in the Caribbean, Latin America, and Mexico:

  • Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA)
  • Belize City’s Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE)
  • Cancún International Airport (CUN)
  • Grand Cayman’s Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM)
  • Havana’s José Martí International Airport (HAV)
  • Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
  • Liberia’s Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR)
  • Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ)
  • Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS)
  • Providenciales International Airport (PLS)
  • Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR)
  • Punta Cana Airport (PUJ)
  • San Jose’s Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO)
  • San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)
