Delta Air Lines announced today that it is deepening its investment in Central Texas with the launch of three new nonstop routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and expanded service on two existing routes. Together, these additions expand Delta’s Austin network to nearly 30 destinations. These additions reinforce the airline’s commitment to one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities.

The three new routes to/from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) include:

  • John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) (1x daily; starts on June 7th)
  • Denver International Airport (DEN) (2x daily; starts on November 9th)
  • Kansas City International Airport (MCI) (2x daily; starts on June 7th)

All three routes will use Embraer 175 aircraft, offering 12 Delta First Class, 20 Delta Comfort+, and 38 Main Cabin seats. In addition to the new routes, Delta is also boosting service on two existing routes, including:

  • Indianapolis International Airport (increases from 1x to 3x daily on June 7th)
  • San Francisco International Airport (increases from 1x to 2x daily on April 13th)

Delta’s expansion comes on the heels of past growth in Austin. The airline has already carried more than one million passengers to and from the airport this year. This represents a 12% increase year over year. Upcoming launches include new domestic service to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) in November and two international flights to Cancún International Airport (CUN) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) in December.

Passengers departing from Austin also enjoy one of the most popular Delta Sky Clubs in the airline’s network. It’s known for its Texas-inspired design and tequila- and mezcal-focused beverage menu. The lounge has ranked number one in customer satisfaction in the Southern region for three consecutive years. Delta’s commitment to Central Texas extends beyond flights. In October 2025, the airline will open a permanent flight attendant base in Austin.

Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, said:

With these new routes and expanded service, Delta is building on a strong foundation in Austin and creating more ways for our customers to get where they want to go. It’s another step in delivering the network, convenience and premium experience that sets Delta apart as Austin’s leading global carrier.”

Anthony’s Take: Southwest and American should both be concerned about Delta’s growth at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). With its expanded domestic and international options, modern aircraft, and soon-to-be local base, Delta continues to position Austin as a vital city for the airline. Maybe someday it will become a hub as Delta does not have one in Texas like American and United do with Dallas and Houston, respectively.
