In August 2024, I wrote about Hyatt acquiring The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels. The acquisition closed and now Hyatt is working to onboard the properties into its booking engine and World of Hyatt® loyalty program. These are being added in batches and I’m excited to be able to book some of them soon. Once complete, there will be 24 hotels to choose from in total.

Hyatt paid $150 million for the asset-light acquisition (with up to an additional $185 million paid as more properties are added). Properties like The Standard, London, The Standard, High Line in New York City, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, and boutique properties like Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin and Hotel San Cristóbal in Mexico will soon be bookable through Hyatt and able to earn points (as well as opening some new points redemption opportunities). The Standard’s brand was developed by Andre Balazs. It’s known for the nightlife at its hotels and Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Benicio del Toro were early investors.

Hyatt CEO, Mark Hoplamazian, described the deal last year:

The development community knows an industry game-changer when they see it, and the enthusiasm for bringing together the ethos of The Standard and Bunkhouse brands and the power of Hyatt’s network and distribution system is palpable. Developers love this combination as much as we do.”

World of Hyatt® members will earn 5x points per eligible $1 spent. Stays will also qualify for elite bonuses at the usual levels. Members will earn an additional 4x points per eligible $1 spent when they pay with a co-branded Hyatt credit card. Elite qualifying nights will also be earned for stays.

Anthony’s Take: I have always wanted to stay at The Standard, High Line New York and I can see myself booking it soon now that it will be part of Hyatt.
