Southwest passengers were treated to quite the disgusting spectacle when flight WN418 landed at Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) earlier this morning. The plane was headed inbound from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) when the female passenger removed her clothing and defecated on her seat.

NBC 5 Chicago reports that the aircraft was met by law enforcement and medical personnel. The plane had to be taken out of service for cleaning but was returned a few hours later. A Southwest spokesperson released the following statement:

Our Teams are reaching out to those onboard to apologize for the situation and any delays to their travel plans. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of our customers and employees, and we appreciate the professionalism of the flight crew.”

No word was released on what caused the woman to act in this manner or what led up to the incident. I can’t imagine how awful this was for the passengers seated around her.

Anthony’s Take: Hopefully this passenger gets the assistance she needs with either her medical or mental health (or both). I’m not a huge fan of Midway and this isn’t helping my opinion (even though it’s completely out of the airport and airline’s control).
