Avelo Airlines has assigned a rather unique number to its upcoming flights between Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA) and Albany International Airport (ALB). This route will fly as XP 666, which will undoubtedly upset some superstitious and religious folks as 666 is recognized as a symbol for the Antichrist or the devil.
Very rare for a U.S. airline to use 666 as a flight number 😳

Using 666 as a flight number is not common in the United States, but it’s actually in use around the world currently. Here are some airlines who also have flights numbered 666:
- ANA (NH 666): Nagasaki Airport (NGS) to Haneda Airport (HND)
- Buddha Air (U4 666): Pokhara International Airport (PKR) to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM)
- Citilink Indonesia (QG 666): Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) to Bali’s Denpasar International Airport (DPS)
- Egyptair (MS 666): Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) to Cairo International Airport (CAI)
- Ryanair (FR 666): Dublin Airport (DUB) to Birmingham Airport (BHX)
Other airlines have used the number as recently as 2024. These include British Airways, China Southern, Corendon, Himalaya Airlines, Iran Air, Luxair, Royal Air Maroc, Scoot, and Volaris.
In addition to real-world flights, there is a low-budget horror movie released in 2018 called Flight 666 and Iron Maiden: Flight 666 is a concert documentary film about the English heavy metal band.
Anthony’s Take: I’m not sure I’d want to fly flight 666 (in the same way I don’t like staying on the 13th or 14th floors of hotels). I’m not overly superstitious or religious, but these flights would definitely give me pause.
