United Airlines has made great strides this year to improve its catering. I have been satisfied with many of the meals that have been served in domestic First Class. The Cheese Plate has long been my favorite as it’s simple and delicious. Last year, the description and images changed. I decided to try the new one in November, but was surprised to get the old combo. Today, I preordered it again thinking that I might get the new items, but once again it was the old, familiar items that I have always enjoyed. I can’t tell if these are catering errors or if the menu is just wrong. Either way, I was happy to see one of my favorite choices remain the same.
The new Cheese Plate is available for pre-order only. It’s supposed to have Cheddar Cheese, Blue Cheese, Brie Cheese, Marinated Olives, Caramelized Pecans, Almonds, Beef Salami, and Grapes. This is not what I received (which might be for the best because I don’t like olives, pecans, or almonds).
As mentioned, I was happy to get the older version. It includes Cheddar Cheese, Brie Cheese, Dried Apricots, Almonds, Grapes, Prosciutto, and a Strawberry. It’s served with warm bread, a decent green salad, and Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding (which I love). Everything was fresh and delicious. With the Cheese Plate, there is no worry about items being overcooked and it’s a nice, somewhat light choice.
I am still in love with Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding being the dessert on most flights within the United States.
Anthony’s Take: Even though I don’t like several of the items on the new Cheese Plate. I’ll keep trying to get one for review purposes, but I’m not going to complain if UA leaves things alone either.

Which station is the catering from? If it’s TPA, it’s SOP – somehow this station always get the catering wrong one way or another, both in First and in Economy.
It was TPA. LOL.
