The W Las Vegas is the rebranding of the Delano Las Vegas Hotel. I stayed at the Delano in December 2022 (review here) and nothing has changed other than a huge W being affixed to the side of the building. The lobby, guest rooms, and every other aspect of the hotel still says Delano (heck, it’s even printed on the phones). While the W does not feel like a true W yet, it soon will. Plans to renovate the lobby into the standard W Living Room are underway and the accommodations will also see refreshes over the next few years. The hotel only opened for reservations on December 18th and the staff is still pretty unaware of most of the Marriott Bonvoy® program or what a W Hotel is supposed to offer.
Anthony’s Take: I have stayed at this property several times through the years. It used to be THEhotel and was rebranded the Delano in 2012. Its latest rebrand brings Marriott’s funky, luxe W flag. As mentioned above, nothing has changed yet. That said, the suite was comfortable and clean, the lobby is a minimalist dream, and once everything was straightened out (and several staff members and a manager conferred), we were given the benefits that we were supposed to receive. This is far from my favorite hotel in Las Vegas, but it’s not a bad place to stay. It worked well on this trip because we attended Pickle Ball Slam 3, which was being held in the Mandalay Bay.
Booking
I booked a Stay Well Premier, Suite, 1 King, which is a level up from the base suite (all rooms are suites at the hotel) on a Flexible Rate. The nightly rate was $288 and included taxes, fees, and a $50 Daily Resort Fee, which is nothing more than a cash grab as this one includes next to nothing. As a Titanium Elite, I had the option of a $30 daily food and beverage credit or 1,000 points. I opted for the F&B credit. Only Ambassador Elite members get the Daily Resort Fee waived.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We took a taxi from Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport to the hotel. It cost $21 and took around 15 minutes to drive the approximately 3.2 miles with some traffic. When I left the hotel, I went back to the airport in an Uber Comfort for a similar price.
Location
The W Las Vegas is located next to/inside Mandalay Bay. The Strip is easily accessible and it’s a short walk to many of the other hotels. The hotel is located on the southern end of the strip. I generally prefer to stay in the middle (Bellagio or Cosmopolitan), but this was fine for this trip as the main reason for our trip (Pickle Ball Slam 3) was inside Mandalay Bay.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 8:00 pm and were promptly checked in. There is a desk to the right of the main check-in for Marriott Bonvoy® elite members. The agent checking us in was a bit confused about benefits. I forgot to ask about a late checkout (but was later granted 12:00 PM, which was fine for what we needed). The Daily Resort Fee was not explained and I was told that no upgrades were available. A moment later we had our keys and were off to our suite.
The Daily Resort Fee includes:
- In-room wireless internet access
- Unlimited local, domestic long distance (the 50 United States and DC) and toll-free calls
- Access to Paramount+ with SHOWTIME On Demand via in-room television
- Airline boarding pass printing
- Digital newspaper and magazine access
- Fitness center access for guests 18+
- Amenities, such as fitness center access, are subject to availability and guest demand.
There are some basic snacks near the check-in desk. The agent said that we could grab something on our way.
The lobby looks exactly the same as when I last stayed at the Delano. The lobby was never too crowded during our stay.
The elevator banks have a security guard checking keys.
The elevator lobby and hallways on our floor were clean (and again looked the same as my last stay).
We were booked on a Stay Well floor. Stay Well accommodations include aromatherapy, air purification, vitamin infusions in the shower, and additional wellness focused amenities.
Stay Well Premier, Suite, 1 King (35902)
There are 1,117 suites at the W Las Vegas.
The suite opened with a half bath to the left. It held a toilet and a sink.
Nothing has changed in the suite including the design of the baths.
A bottle of MGM Resorts Hand Wash was on the counter.
The living room was straight ahead. It offered lots of space, a couch, multiple tables, a desk, and TV mounted above it.
A wet bar was near the couch.
The mini-fridge was in the cabinet below. Everything was sensored and we did not even touch it.
A $65 service fee is applied if any items are moved or touched. Ouch.
A Keurig was on the counter. There is a charge for water as well as the cups, coffee pods, and condiments.
A TV was mounted on the wall across from the couch.
A large desk was to the right.
Not even the telephones have been rebranded.
The views overlooked the Luxor.
The bedroom was to the left. It was also quite large and held a king-sized bed, nightstands, a table and chair, a TV, and a huge wardrobe.
The table and chair were near the window.
This air purifier had the most annoying light that took me a while to figure out how to turn it off. It’s one of the StayWell amenities.
A sound machine was on one of the nightstands.
The wardrobe lined an entire wall. The TV was mounted in the center. I loved the look and feel of the leather-covered furniture.
One side held a safe.
The other side had an iron, ironing board, and a robe.
Like the rest of the suite, the master bathroom also had tons of space including two sinks, a tub, a toilet (in its own room), and a glassed-in shower.
I am always happy when the toilet is separated like this one.
The vanity had lots of counter space. One light was burnt out above it.
More MGM Resorts branded toiletries were on the counter, but there was no bar soap.
The shower was spacious. Water pressure and temperature were both good. We did not know how to use the vitamin infusion (unless it just happens automatically in the shower).
Even more MGM Resorts toiletries were mounted to the wall of the shower.
We did not use the bathtub.
Dinner
We used our $30 credit towards part of dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s new restaurant Carama in Mandalay Bay.
We shared a Pizza Prosciutto with fresh Mission figs, Gorgonzola dolce, arugula, and aged Balsamic. It was a great start (although there was too much arugula).
I had Tagliolini Bolognese and my husband ordered the Linguine Fra Diavolo. Both pasta dishes were well prepared.
Breakfast
We applied the other $30 credit to a takeout breakfast from Seabreeze Café. We had a Breakfast Burrito and a Breakfast Sandwich. These were enjoyed in the suite along with our Starbucks.
Public Areas & Amenities
The W Las Vegas shares a lot of its amenities with Mandalay Bay. The pool was not open due to the season. The W Las Vegas has a store in the lobby for snacks and sundries, a fitness center (pictured above), BATHHOUSE Spa, Skyfall Panoramic Bar & Lounge, and many restaurants in Mandalay Bay.

The store was convenient (if pricey) for grabbing soft drinks.
The Skyfall Bar & Lounge is located on the 64th floor. It had a fun vibe, good cocktails, and amazing views.
When entering the W Las Vegas from Mandalay Bay, you’ll pass by the Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil show and enter a long hallway.
It offered some seating and a promise of a reimagined W Las Vegas.
Overall Impression:
The W Las Vegas is exactly the same as the Delano. The public spaces and suites will be renovated, but for now there isn’t anything that makes it feel like a W. That said, I enjoyed the hotel and found the suite spacious and comfortable. I like that the it’s tucked away from the much busier Mandalay Bay and that it doesn’t lack amenities.

Interesting review. How do you deal with cash and valuables in your room at hotels given that in-room safes often have opening hacks on the internet?
