American Airlines is adding Sliders and Fries as a pre-order meal selection in domestic First Class. Cheeseburgers in First Class (once unheard of) have become a staple up front (as well as in the back). Delta recently partnered with Shake Shack to introduce its burger to First Class passengers departing from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). And, United has been serving a burger and fries on and off for some time. I now need to find a reason to fly American to test this out as the trial will run from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

AA:𝘉𝘜𝘙𝘎𝘌𝘙 𝘞𝘈𝘙S, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤…AA will get on the burger-bus and trial "Silders and Fries" pre-order only, domestic short-haul ex-ORD in February (starting tomorrow) and in March and April all Domestic short-haul for pre-order

The Sliders and Fries are rolling out today according to aviation insider, @JonNYC. The trial period runs from February 12th to March 11th. It will roll out on all eligible domestic First Class flights for a three-month trial that ends in May.

Cheeseburgers are a hearty and comforting choice. Similar to having an ice cream sundae while flying in a premium cabin, there is something relaxing and familiar about having a cheeseburger. Passengers love them and Delta’s Shake Shack test must be going well as @JonNYC also reported that they will be rolling out to other hubs like Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in the next few months.

Anthony’s Take: I’m always up for a good burger in flight and hope to be able to taste test these Sliders in the near future. I’m also working on getting on a Delta flight for the Shake Shack burger with time being the only thing not on my side. American has been looking to improve its premium product and this is one small step forward.

I don’t expect the quality of ground food on an airplane but the burger they had in domestic first on United first class was awful. Rock hard bun, cheese was a mess and runny, pax next to me barely took a bite before he had the FA take is tray away.
At least the Air MOS on JAL was palatable. I do wonder how they prepared it since it came out about 10 hours into a 14hour TPAC flight. (I know this is comparing apples to oranges here..)
