Marriott added another Luxury Collection property to the portfolio this week with the addition of Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Milan. The 101-room property blends Italian design with amazing culinary offerings.
There is no shortage of great hotels to pick from in Milan. The city exudes fashion, design, and a bit of elitism, but not in a bad way. We’re returning this summer and I’m excited to check it out after many years away. Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel is in the center of Milan near the pedestrian Piazzetta Bossi, close to Teatro alla Scala, and part of the Brera neighborhood. The property was designed by architect and designer Patricia Urquiola and is a beautiful renovation of the historic Rationalists building by architect Pietro Lingeri.
The building was originally designed in the 1950s by Lingeri with geometric graphics on the walls, floors, and even the ceiling. The Rationalist style shows a preference for Italian marbles, especially granite, and this is found in the building’s facade and throughout its spaces.
Michelin-starred, Italian Chef Andrea Berton oversees the culinary program here at three of the dining venues including Living lounge, Scena restaurant (a fine-dining Italian restaurant), and Etereo skybar and restaurant. Chef Haruo Ichikawa, the first Japanese chef to earn a Michelin star in Italy, oversees the cuisine at Odachi restaurant.
Etero skybar and restaurant offers spectacular views of Milan along with an outdoor pool and terrace with sunbeds, sofas, and umbrellas. The hotel also offers a fitness center.
In terms of accommodations, Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel offers 101 rooms including 15 suites. These all blend Milanese art, culture, and design with contemporary touches.
Anthony’s Take: This hotel looks gorgeous and is on my list of possibilities for a summer trip to Milan. I love the Luxury Collection and this renovation is stunning.
