The New York Post reports that American Eagle flight AA6181 from Kalamazoo Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) had just landed when the incident occurred. The tug was making its way across the runway when the wing struck the vehicle and flipped it over. The United employee became trapped under the vehicle. He was eventually freed and taken to Lutheran General Hospital where he was treated for injuries to his head and lower body. Thankfully, he is now in stable condition.
No injuries were sustained by any passengers or crew on the aircraft. United and American both released statements saying that they are investigating what happened. This investigation remains ongoing as the airlines attempt to figure out how this happened.
Anthony’s Take: It’s unclear as to how this accident happened. The man driving the tug is now in stable condition and the incident is being further investigated.
