Porter Airlines is a Toronto-based airline that connects passengers to 24 cities across Canada and the US. It announced today that it’s adding flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) up to 3x daily. Porter currently flies to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). With this addition, it will offer up to 15 daily roundtrips to the New York area.

These new flights will be operated with 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Porter promises that all passengers receive “celebrity treatment with Porter’s elevated economy experience.” It offers a 2-2 seating configuration and offers a premium experience to all passengers with complimentary snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, and free Wi-Fi. PorterReserve passengers enjoy additional benefits such as priority check-in, enhanced legroom, and fresh, healthy meals, while these features can also be purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.

Porter Airlines will operate out of Terminal B at New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Air Canada, American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines are also in this terminal. Passengers can easily connect to JetBlue flights as the two have an interline agreement.

Andrew Pierce, Vice President of Network Planning and Reporting at Porter Airlines, said:

We have built a strong passenger base over more than 15 years for those traveling between Canada and the New York metropolitan area. The addition of LaGuardia introduces a new dimension to our network, opening more options for existing customers and the ability to attract new ones within the busiest air service corridor connecting Canada and the U.S.”

Anthony’s Take: Porter Airlines seems to have good reviews and it keeps growing in the Northeast. Passengers in the New York area will soon have even more options to get to Canada.
