British Airways recently announced a change to its loyalty program. Executive Club has been renamed “The British Airways Club” and elite membership will be granted solely through Tier Points earned through spending after April 1st. With this change, it’s possible to lock in Gold status with one itinerary, but it will cost you a staggering £25,427.

BA Gold Flight

FlyerTalk member, @MaestroRamen shared this costly way to earn status in one fell swoop. The trip will take you from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) through London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and onto Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND).

BA Tier Points

Tier Points are earned at a rate of 1x per every £1 spent. Gold status requires 20,000. One trip and you’re all set (even though the spend is eye watering).

Anthony’s Take: This is one way to get to status. Likely not the way most folks will reach this lofty level of spend.
