The Bulkhead Seat started on December 1, 2022 when I joined BoardingArea. I find myself reflecting again this morning (as I did last year) on what I’m thankful for this now and there is a lot when it comes to this site. My feelings remain largely the same as last year, so I made some minor tweaks to this year’s post.

The Bulkhead Seat 11.27

Most of my career has been in media (either as an editor or for the past 18 years as an advertising sales leader). Business travel has kept me on the road. The blog felt natural and brought together my passion for travel with the knowledge I’ve gained through the years in the media and publishing space.

I’m humbled to see thousands of people reading my posts every day, commenting, sharing memories, and hopefully learning something. I will never claim to know everything about travel (I learn something new each day), but I have visited over 85 countries, stayed thousands of nights in hotels, and flown over 3,000,000 miles. Along the way, I’ve devoured scores of information from FlyerTalk, news sites, and other bloggers. I’m grateful that I can write about what I want every day and that people actually come to read it. Thank You!

I’m also thankful that I have the means and time to travel. My new day job that I started this month gives me lots of opportunities to get out there and see clients. There is no replacement for exploring the world to experience its foods, people, culture, history, and more. I have seen a lot, but the list of where to go next never seems to shrink. You can travel on any budget and I urge everyone to just go. We’ll be heading to Aruba tomorrow after we eat our turkey today.

Dad Thanksgiving

Again this year, I’m thankful for my friends, husband, and family. Without them, life would not be the adventure that it is each day. I lost my dad almost four years ago in February 2021 to cancer. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about him and many others that I’ve lost through the years. I’m thankful for the time we had together, but also think it was cut too short as he passed at 69 years old.

Please take a moment to reflect today on all that you have to be thankful for and once again, I thank you for all of the articles you’ve read, comments you’ve made, and things you’ve taught me along the way. Enjoy time with friends and family as the moments are fleeting. I look forward to continuing to push out content and interact with many more of you.

Anthony’s Take: I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and hope that you also have lots to be thankful for this year.
