Two weeks ago, I had to attend an event in Columbus, OH. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Columbus as I’m working to renew my Globalist status for 2025. The hotel worked well for what I needed. It was walking distance to my event and there were plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.
Anthony’s Take: The Hyatt Regency Columbus is a functional and convenient business hotel in Columbus’ Arena District. I was proactively upgraded to a suite and found the staff to be friendly. The hotel does not have a Club Lounge, but breakfast vouchers were provided (I also did not have time for breakfast during my short stay).
Booking
I booked 1 King Bed room on a Standard Rates of $197 plus taxes and fees. The hotel is a Category 2 property and room redemptions range from 6,500 to 9,500 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt points for a standard room.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). The approximately 7.1-mile ride took 12 minutes and cost $28. I returned to the airport the next evening in the same way and at a similar cost.
Location
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Nationwide Arena and the Arena District. There are also lots of stores and restaurants nearby.
Check-in
I arrived at the hotel around 6:00 PM and my room was ready. Reception lines one wall of the lobby. The agent checking me in informed me that I was upgraded to a Studio Suite. I asked for a late checkout and was granted the 2:00 PM I requested. The hotel does not have a Club Lounge and I was given a voucher for an appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage. Breakfast would also be provided on the second floor. I had my key a few moments later and was on the way to my suite.

The upgrade had shown up on my phone earlier in the day. I love that apps show me what I’m getting, but they do take away some of the surprise of an upgrade.
The lobby sits within an atrium and feels like a conference center hotel.
There was a good amount of seating throughout the lobby and the second floor.
The elevator lobby and hallways were both clean and felt like they were recently refreshed.
Studio Suite (2043)
There are 631 rooms and 16 suites at the hotel.
The suite opened with a table and chairs and a living area beyond them.
I liked having a table and chairs to work and dine from in the suite.
A kitchenette was to the left. It held a refrigerator, microwave, sink, and coffeemaker.
The Keurig had coffee and condiments next to it.
Bottled water was also found here along with an ice bucket.
The living area was large with a couch and chair as well as a TV.
The living area offered a good amount of space to stretch out and relax.
The bedroom was to the left. It held a king-sized bed, end tables, a table and chair, and a TV.
The table and chair were near the window.
The view looked out over downtown Columbus.
A TV was mounted on the wall across from the bed.
The bedroom had a closet. A blanket, luggage rack, and safe were found here.
There was also an iron and ironing board.
A full-length mirror was near the bathroom.
The bathroom was somewhat tight, but functional with a sink, toilet, and glassed-in shower.
The vanity was large with lots of counter space.
A bar of Pharmacopia brand soap was on the counter.
Pharmacopia Body Lotion was mounted on the wall nearby.
The toilet did not have much space around it.
The glassed-in shower was adequate. Water pressure and temperature were both fine.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted to the wall of the shower.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, a grand ballroom, 33 event rooms, a second-floor lobby restaurant, an ATM, and a business center.
The business center is near reception.
The fitness center is located on the second floor.
It had lots of equipment and a Peloton Bike.
Towels and water were provided.
The restaurant on the second floor includes a market with to-go items.
A bar is also found nearby.
Overall Impression:
The Hyatt Regency Columbus gets the job done if you’re staying there for a conference or nearby meetings downtown. Elite benefits are good at this hotel and I was proactively given an upgrade, late checkout was offered, and the hotel makes up for not having a Club Lounge for what it gives in vouchers.
