Back in August, I wrote about the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch undergoing a $115 million renovation and reopening as the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. The property is now open and is Hyatt’s first property under the Grand Hyatt flag in Arizona.
The newly refurbished hotel includes 496 renovated rooms and suites. Refreshed amenities include six restaurants and bars, 10 pools, a sandy beach, a three-story waterslide, Spa Avania, which offers a Himalayan salt room and 19 treatment rooms, and an updated ballroom. For those looking for something ultra-luxe, the resort will offer the Gainey House, which is a two-bedroom, 2,450-square-foot private residence with a chef’s kitchen. Nature lovers and fitness enthusiasts will love the jogging paths and bike trails as well as the tennis and pickleball courts.
Dining options look impressive with four new food and beverage concepts added including La Zozzona (modern Italian chophouse), Tiki Taka (global small plates), Mesa Centrale (Southwestern grill), and Grand Vista Lounge (lobby bar). These are in addition to the two new poolside concepts: Sandbar and H2Oasis. The restaurants are helmed by celebrated chef and TV host, Richard Blais. I love his Atlanta restaurants and find him an impressive chef, overall.
Hyatt already has a pretty impressive collection of resorts in Arizona, including the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows and the Miraval Arizona. The Grand Hyatt is a nice addition to this portfolio and another option for those looking to escape and relax near the Sonoran Desert.
Ripton Melhado, Senior Vice President of Field Operations at Hyatt, said:
We are thrilled to unveil Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort, marking a significant milestone as the first Grand Hyatt in Arizona and elevating our presence in this dynamic market. As a cornerstone of our expanding Grand Hyatt portfolio, this resort will deliver the brand’s signature blend of sophisticated luxury and bold experiences, while authentically capturing the spirit and distinctive character of the American Southwest.”
Anthony’s Take: My favorite property in this area has long been The Phoenician, which is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection (review here), but Hyatt has some stunning options and this one looks to be worth checking out.
