Air France and KLM share a loyalty program called Flying Blue. There are some good award redemptions through Flying Blue, but would you pay to have a predetermined number of miles deposited into your account monthly? Flying Blue now offers monthly subscriptions that do just that.
Flying Blue members can enroll to automatically buy miles on a monthly basis. This ranges between 2,000 miles for $34.20 and 17,000 miles for $227.80. This is an interesting concept, but I wouldn’t recommend spending money for miles without a specific redemption in mind. The offer can be found here.
Flying Blue miles are an easy currency to get. The program partners with American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One Miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards at a 1:1 conversion rate. It’s also a partner with Marriott Bonvoy® at a 3:1 rate.
Last year, I took advantage of a Bilt Rewards’ Rent Day promo and received a 100% bonus for transferring miles. I redeemed these for tickets in Business Class on Air France to Italy.
Anthony’s Take: Flying Blue’s Subscribe to Miles is a pass for me. These miles are easy to get and I’ll transfer them before buying them monthly.
