Back in May, I wrote about how Delta Air Lines scrapped plans to restart its service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) on October 27th. This is no longer the case. While it won’t start this month, the route is coming back in June 2025.
When it was announced last year, the flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) was set to run 4x weekly on an Airbus A350. Flying between the United States and China was decimated during the pandemic. It has still not returned to 2019 levels even as demand from the airlines has grown.
The route will run 3x weekly on an Airbus A350-900 with 32 Delta One®, 48 Premium Select, 36 Comfort+, and 190 Main Cabin seats. Passengers in the Delta One® will be able to enjoy the newly opened Delta One® Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (more here).

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) will also be served by Delta from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). In total, 17 weekly flights will be offered from the three airports. United also flies from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). American offers flights from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
Anthony’s Take: It’s great to see this route resuming and that these Delta One® passengers will be able to enjoy the new lounge. Delta has lots of options ready to roll next summer.
