An American Airlines gate agent and a passenger got into an argument around boarding at Miami International Airport (MIA) this week. The passenger was denied boarding as the agent was closing out the flight. She walked down the jet bridge without permission anyway while filming and that is where things took a turn.

The video above shows the altercation between the gate agent and passenger. Several passengers were waiting for seats and on standby for the flight. The passenger was not going to be allowed to board, but went down the jet bridge anyway. It’s not clear why she was not allowed to board, but her first mistake was to push past the agent. The agent tells her that she is off the flight and demands that she stop filming. He attempts to grab her phone and she shouts at him to not touch her. The passenger then demands that a manager or the police be called.

American Airlines released a brief statement that reads:

We are investigating a recent event at Miami International Airport (MIA) and are in the process of learning more from the team member and customers involved.”

Anthony’s Take: It’s unclear what happened and why this passenger was not allowed to board. She should not have gone down the jet bridge anyway as that was certainly not going to get her a seat on the plane. The agent should have stayed calmer and not have gotten close enough to try to grab her phone.
