I’ve seen all sorts of bad behavior in First and Business Class. From passengers getting drunk to clipping toenails to thinking that the flight attendants were there to wait on them hand and foot, some people feel so entitled just because they’re sitting in the front of the plane.

CRJ-900 first class Karen is The Most Important Person On The Plane who "paid hundreds of dollars more than anybody else"

A poster took to Reddit this week to share their experience on a recent Delta Air Lines flight between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). A First Class passenger boarded the Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft well after most of the First Class cabin had boarded. The poster deemed this woman “The Most Important Person On The Plane” based on her awful and demanding behavior.

The aircraft involved in this incident is a regional jet. Its overhead bins are limited and only the space on one side of the aircraft is able to hold rollaboard bags. She was seated in 3A (which has a smaller bin above it) and she noted that there were bags above her seat and in most of the space in First Class. The Reddit poster was seated in 2C and watched her shenanigans. They were unable to find space in First Class (even boarding early) and stowed their bags by row 6. When another passenger suggested that she put her bag back further in the aircraft, she loudly proclaimed:

Whose bags are these? These overhead spots are for First Class! People in the back: Get your bags out of these spots! I paid hundreds of dollars more than anybody else to have overhead space at my seat!”

The flight attendant found space for this Karen in the closet at the front of the plane and she seemed satisfied with this outcome until the flight landed and she took it upon herself to police the passengers that were coming forward to deplane and informed them that First Class passengers should get off first. She did not realize that they were also in First Class and allowed them to pass once she did realize that they were also up front.

Anthony’s Take: I’m not sure why people feel that they can act the way that they do when they board an aircraft. I’ve seen behavior just like this many times. I need space for my carry-on bag when I fly and make a point to board early in order to ensure that it’s nearby. If you board late, you cannot expect to have your bag directly overhead and have to make accommodations regardless of what you pay for your ticket.

The woman is a bully but the economy class passengers trying to get off before her are even worse bullies.

I edited to clarify. It was other F passengers that she was blocking.
