Delta Air Lines flight DL112 from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) diverted to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) two hours into the flight when a passenger had “severe bouts of diarrhea” all over their seat on board the Airbus A330.

Sunday’s incident was deemed “an onboard medical issue” and the captain decided to divert the aircraft. Impacted passengers were accommodated on other flights.

This is not the first time that a passenger has had diarrhea on a Delta Air Lines’ flight and caused a diversion. Last September, I wrote about Delta Air Lines flight DL194 from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) being forced to return to Atlanta after only flying for less than two hours due to a biohazard in the cabin. Apparently, a passenger had “diarrhea all over the aircraft.”
Anthony’s Take: Just like the passengers who changed a child’s diaper at their seat last week (more here), I cannot imagine how bad the smell must have been. I feel sorry for the passenger who fell ill and also those around them as this must have been an awful way to fly.
