American Airlines is still adjusting its schedule even months after the Northeast Alliance with JetBlue was dissolved (more here). Its presence in New York is not what it once was and might never fully return, but a few new routes should be coming soon. These adds unfortunately come along with one route hitting the chopping block.

New Orleans

New Routes

The three flights that American is adding include:

  • Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) (daily; starts on November 5th). This was last flown in 2008. It’s also served by Delta (2x daily).
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO) (2x daily; starts on November 5th). This was last flown in 2021. It’s also served by Delta (up to 5x daily), JetBlue (up to 5x daily), and Spirit (up to 3x daily).
  • Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) (2x daily; starts on November 5th). This was last flown in 2020. It’s also flown by Delta (up to 4x daily) and JetBlue (up to 3x daily).

Aruba

Cancelled Route

One, Saturday-only route that took advantage of the perimeter exception will cease in August:

  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to/from Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) (Saturdays only; ends on August 31st)

Anthony’s Take: These leisure routes are a welcome addition for American flyers in New York. We’ll see what else American adds back to LaGuardia.
