I am on my eighth United Airlines flight this week. My schedule shifted this morning and I found myself flying from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Tampa International Airport (TPA). I made the change to the reservation a few hours before the flight departed and snagged the last seat in First Class. Unfortunately, I was unable to preorder a meal because the change was so last minute. Luckily, I got to try out the Scrambled Eggs for the first time.
The Scrambled Eggs are one of the standard breakfast choices that United regularly caters. I had not had them before today and had a mixed reaction.
The Scrambled Eggs are served with bacon, hash browns, sautéed spinach, a fruit salad, a Chobani Greek Vanilla yogurt, and a croissant. The eggs were good and the bacon was nicely cooked. I liked the addition of the sautéed spinach as well. The hash browns were really soggy and should have been made crispier. The yogurt and fruit salad were also fine. The croissant still is rather depressing (and likely making French bakers squirm by calling is a croissant).
I would rank this dish second to the Peach Cobbler Crepes (review here) and ahead of the cold breakfast served yesterday (review here).
Anthony’s Take: I’ve complimented United several times recently on improvements to catering in domestic First Class. This is a solid, hearty choice and a safe bet overall when having breakfast in the sky.
