SAS announced today that it’s the latest airline to sign on for Starlink free, high-speed Wi-Fi across its entire fleet. This will be rolled out on all aircraft by the end of 2025 with members of SAS’ EuroBonus loyalty program gaining access for no cost.

Back in September, United Airlines announced that it would be adding Starlink connectivity to its fleet. The implementation timeline was just sped up and United is beginning testing next month. Air France also announced in September that it would be rolling out Starlink Wi-Fi on its planes. Other airlines like airBaltic, Air New Zealand, Hawaiian Airlines, Qatar Airways, and WestJet have also shared plans to offer this service.

SAS Starlink

Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit. It delivers internet access around the world, including over oceans, polar regions, and other remote locations that previously did not offer Wi-Fi signals. SAS passengers will soon be able to have Wi-Fi connectivity from boarding through deplaning.

Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, said:

By introducing this new technology, we’re connecting our passengers to the world like never before. We’re putting an end to frustrating interruptions and ushering in a new era of connectivity. Whether flying over the Atlantic or the North Sea, our passengers can now count on a connection that is as stable and seamless as it is fast. This is about giving our customers the best and ensuring SAS remains synonymous with excellence.

This is a game-changer for our travelers. Gate-to-gate connectivity isn’t just an improvement — it’s a breakthrough in convenience and reliability. It gives our customers the freedom to work seamlessly, stay connected, and enjoy uninterrupted entertainment throughout their flight.”

Anthony’s Take: It is exciting to see so many airlines adopting Starlink and the speed and reliability that it will bring to flights around the world. I can’t wait for United, especially, to have this rolled out. SAS serves a challenging geographic region and this will definitely provide better in-flight connectivity.
