Lufthansa is introducing new Allegris First Class loungewear next month on some flights between Munich International Airport (MUC) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as part of an exclusive partnership with Japanese artist, Sho Shibuya.

The contemporary artist has created a unique design that is inspired by a view of the sky that can only be experienced from the windows of an airplane. A Copenhagen-based, premium homewear brand called Tekla brought the artist’s skyline to life in high-quality loungewear made exclusively for passengers in Lufthansa’s Allegris First Class cabin. The pajamas are made from organic cotton satin with a shiny finish. Each piece of the limited-edition loungewear is unique with a beautiful color gradient.

The inspiration for this art came at an altitude of 32,000 feet. During a long flight, Shibuya took a picture of the sky through an airplane window. This color gradient between white, azure, and dark blue served as the inspiration. Shibuya said:

The symmetry of the gradient from top to bottom makes it unique and reflects the experience of flying. The white in the middle represents the clouds, while the deep blue at the top represents the sky and the ocean at the bottom.”

Anthony’s Take: Lufthansa First Class is a luxurious experience and this limited-edition loungewear exemplifies that feeling. These unisex pajamas are works of art and too beautiful to wear in my opinion.
