Frontier Airlines announced today that it is adding three new routes from San Diego International Airport (SAN). Flights will commence in June to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

With these new routes, Frontier will offer a total of eight destinations from San Diego International Airport (SAN). The new routes will fly on the following schedule:

  • Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) (4x weekly; starts on June 13th)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (daily; starts on June 12th)
  • Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) (3x weekly; starts on June 13th)

Josh Flyr, Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier Airlines, said:

We are thrilled to announce these three additional routes as we continue to grow our presence in San Diego. With Frontier’s trademark low fares available on eight nonstop routes from SAN, now is a better time than ever for consumers in Southern California to make Frontier their airline of choice.”

San Diego International Airport (SAN) serves as a focus city for both Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Southwest holds around 33% of seat capacity. Alaska will soon open a new lounge in the airport in a further demonstration of its commitment there. As with all new routes, Frontier is running a sale for these three.

Anthony’s Take: Frontier continues to grow and expand its route network. I have yet to fly the airline and will try it once First Class seats are installed.
