Apparently, today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. I’m going to have to walk down the street to Levain Bakery (review here) to pick one up. If you find yourself at a DoubleTree by Hilton and are allergic to any of the top nine allergens, the hotel chain now has a cookie for you.

Starting today, DoubleTree by Hilton will offer a new allergy-friendly chocolate chip cookie from Partake Foods (alongside the original DoubleTree chocolate chip cookie). This will make the welcome treat more accessible to guests who might be allergic to wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, eggs, soy, fish, sesame, or shellfish (hopefully a few of those are not in the original cookies). More than 32 million people in the United States have food allergies, intolerances, or dietary preferences.

For more than 50 years, DoubleTree by Hilton has welcomed guests with cookies. Guests will now have a choice of the new DoubleTree by Hilton allergy-friendly chocolate chip cookie or DoubleTree’s original chocolate chip cookie at check-in. The soft-baked allergy-friendly cookie is gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, and free of the top nine allergens Each cookie is individually wrapped during production to ensure it’s free from cross-contamination. The only downside is that it’s packaged and not warm, but if you have an allergy this is better than not being able to enjoy a treat.

Anthony’s Take: I haven’t stayed at a Doubletree by Hilton in quite some time, but can vividly remember the cookies. This is a great initiative for the millions with allergies and sensitivities. Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
