In July, I wrote about Red Way Airlines. It began flying from Nebraska’s Lincoln Airport (LNK) on June 8th. The Lincoln Airport Authority was chartering flights from Global Crossing to launch this new airline that was going to serve several US leisure destinations including Las Vegas and Orlando. The airline announced two new routes last month with service to Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) starting this winter. Those schedules have now been pulled with word from the carrier that operations are ending.
Is something going on with Lincoln-based startup Red Way? đź‘€
1. Flights are no longer bookable after this month.
2. Its new Phoenix and Tampa destinations have been removed from its bookings.
3. The @goflyred account “no longer exists”.Not looking good right now.

Airline watcher, @IshrionA noticed that those routes have been pulled and that Red Way’s Titter/X account has been deleted.
When searching for any of its routes after this month, the schedule is completely blocked. It looks like flights between Nebraska’s Lincoln Airport (LNK) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), and Orlando International Airport (MCO) have all been removed.
With all routes not available for sale after select dates this month, operations are folding. An official announcement has been made, confirming it’s done.
Here is the official word:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the decision to cease operations. After careful consideration and evaluation, we have come to the difficult conclusion that we must close our doors. The last day of operations for Red Way will be August 31st, 2023.
Over our short time operating, we have had the immense privilege of serving our customers and connecting people across the US. We are immensely grateful to have had this time, and we know that demand exists strongly in Lincoln for expanded air service. However, we face insurmountable challenges as a small startup in our industry, and the compounding of costs and lack of resources have made it impossible for us to sustain operations. It is our hope that other carriers see the incredible potential, and with their economies of scale, are able to provide Lincoln with the service it is so worthy of.
Anthony’s Take: I was excited to try this airline out of Tampa this winter, but that’s not going to happen with it folding.
