Hotel Review: Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Mason

I had to be in Cincinnati for a meeting and the Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Mason was the closest to where I needed to be. It worked well for what I needed and the hotel was only built in 2019. It still felt relatively new and I’d return if I needed to be in the area.

Anthony’s Take: I was in Ohio for less than 24 hours and the hotel worked well. If you’re looking to stay longer, it’s a good base of operations with tons of food choices nearby. If you don’t want to leave, the hotel offers laundry, a fitness center, and a mini market.

Booking

I booked a 1 King Bed, Sofa Bed on a “Member Flexible Rate.” It cost $119 plus tax. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 18,500 and 30,500 Marriott Bonvoy® points per night.

Transportation to/from the Hotel

I rented a car and drove Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to the hotel. It took 47 minutes for the 37.4-mile drive. The return trip took around the same time.

Location

As mentioned, the hotel is easily accessible from the highway and has lots of stores and tons of eateries nearby. I was happy to see a good selection of Asian restaurants and ended up having sushi nearby.

The hotel opens with a clean and updated lobby. There is a good amount of seating here with a large counter and tables near the restaurant.

Check-In

Reception is immediately to the left upon entering. I arrived around 6:00 PM and my room was ready. The agent was friendly, but did not know much. He told me that there were no upgrades available. He did not know how to code my keys for late checkout and was not sure what welcome amenities I could choose from (I told him I would take the points). He then printed my keys. I walked over to the elevator and my room.

The elevators are down the hall from reception.

The elevator lobby and hallways on my floor were clean and in good repair. They still have the feeling of this being a newer property.

1 King Bed, Sofa Bed (317)

There are 97 rooms and suites at the Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Mason.

The room opened with the bedroom directly to the right.

The bathroom held a vanity with a single sink, a toilet, and a shower.

The vanity offered lots of counter space. It took up most of the bathroom.

A bar of soap and a bottle of lotion was next to the sink.

The shower was an average size. Water pressure and temperature were both fine.

Bottles of 39° North Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash were mounted to the wall.

The toilet was spaced well away from the shower and vanity.

The closet was near the bathroom. It held blankets, a pillow, a luggage rack, an iron, and an ironing board.

The bedroom was just past the closet. It held a king-sized bed, nightstands, a sofa bed, an ottoman, a desk, and a chair along with a TV mounted to the wall.

The sofa bed was near the windows.

The desk took up most of one wall. The TV was mounted above it.

The coffeemaker, cups, coffee, tea, an ice bucket, and condiments were on the desk.

The refrigerator was below. It was empty for guest use.

Public Areas & Amenities

Amenities include a fitness center, a restaurant in the lobby, a laundry room, and a mini market (pictured above).

The fitness center had a good number of treadmills and other equipment.

Water and towels were offered.

The laundry room was down the hall.

Overall Impression:

I had a fine stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Cincinnati Mason. There was nothing particularly good or bad here. It feels newer and worked for me for this short 18-hour trip.
