I was in Dallas for a quick trip and spent the night at the Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Addison/Quorum Drive. The hotel was renovated in 2014 (from what I can find online), but the lobby and common areas feel pretty new. I enjoyed the stay except for one issue: I found a cockroach in the shower as I was getting ready in the morning. This was not the way I wanted to start my day.

Anthony’s Take: This hotel was less than a mile from where I needed to be for dinner. While I did not receive an upgrade and the hotel could not find me a room that was not on the ground floor, the stay was fine. That is, fine until my morning visitor mentioned above. I was checking out, so it did not need addressing for me, but it sketched me out and I will not be returning to the hotel.

Courtyard Addison Booking

Booking

I booked a Standard King, Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed on a “Flexible Rate.” It cost $131 plus tax. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 12,500 and 25,500 Marriott Bonvoy® points per night.

Transportation to/from the Hotel

I took an Uber Comfort from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to the hotel. It cost $58.  It took 25 minutes for the 18.3-mile ride. Returning took around equal time and cost about the same.

Location

The hotel is close to Restaurant Row, Addison Circle Park, the Galleria Dallas, Addison Improv Comedy Club, and the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. You need a car or to take Uber as nothing is easily walkable from here.

The hotel opens with a clean and updated lobby. There is a ton of seating here that’s split between two rooms. It’s good for dining, but not super comfortable for hanging out.

Check-In

Reception is immediately to the right upon entering. I arrived around 2:00 PM and my room was ready. The agent was friendly, but not able to do much in terms of accommodations. He told me that there were no upgrades available and that the only room he could offer me was on the ground floor. He offered me a late checkout (I did not need it) and asked what I wanted for my welcome amenity (I chose points). He then printed my keys and I set off down the hallway to my room.

Since my room was down the hall, I did not need to take an elevator. The hallway was clean and in good repair.

Standard King, Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed (121)

The Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Addison/Quorum Drive has 174 guest rooms and two suites.

Courtyard Addison 12

The room opened with a small foyer that included a vanity outside of the bathroom.

Courtyard Addison 13

The vanity offered a decent amount of cabinet space. I’m not a fan of this style of room as it looks so dated.

Courtyard Addison 14

A bar of soap, makeup remover wipes, and a bottle of lotion was next to the sink.

Courtyard Addison 15

The closet was across from the vanity and it held an iron, an ironing board, and an extra blanket.

Courtyard Addison 16

The bathroom was next to the closet. It held a toilet and a shower/tub combo (not a fan of this setup either). With the sink out of the bathroom, there was plenty of space for the toilet and shower/tub combo.

Courtyard Addison 17

The tub was standard size. Water pressure and temperature were both fine.

Courtyard Addison 18

Bottles of 39° North Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash were mounted to the wall.

Here are some photos of my early morning visitor.

A mirror was mounted to the wall near the bathroom.

The bedroom held a king-sized bed, nightstands, a small sofa bed, and a desk with a TV mounted above it.

Courtyard Addison 21

The sofa bed was near the window/patio door.

The desk was across from the bed. A TV was mounted above it.

Courtyard Addison 23

A coffeemaker, coffee, cups, condiments, bottled water, glasses, and an ice bucket were on the counter.

An empty refrigerator was below.

Courtyard Addison 25

As mentioned, the room was on the ground floor. It had a door leading outside with the pool straight ahead.

The door was difficult to open and I had a hard time sliding it.

The fitness center was also on the ground floor. There were no towels, but water was on offer.

Overall Impression:

The hotel served its need, but as mentioned the cockroach threw me and I will not be returning.
