After spending some time in Hong Kong, we flew to Manila for a few days and stayed at the Grand Hyatt Manila. It’s located in the tallest building in Manila and provides some great views from a modern and pretty luxe hotel. It took us some getting used to the security and metal detectors that were used every time we entered, but once inside we loved the service, suite, and Grand Club.
Anthony’s Take: We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt Manila and found it a convenient base to explore Manila. The Grand Club offered a great evening spread and a nice breakfast. The hotel treats Globalists well and our suite was nicely appointed and comfortable.
Booking
I booked a Grand Suite by redeeming World of Hyatt® points. This cost 20,000 points per night. The hotel is classified as Category 3 and redemptions for standard rooms range from 9,000 to 15,000 per night. The cash rate was around $450, so I found this to be a good value.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We took a taxi a Grab (an Asian rideshare service) from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL). It took around 27 minutes for the 4.8-mile ride and cost around $4. When we left, we went back to the airport, which cost around the same and took about equal time.
Location
As mentioned, the hotel is located in the tallest building in Manila. The central location in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, which is the business district and home to the Philippine Stock Exchange. We took Grab cars just about everywhere. They were inexpensive and easy. There are some malls and restaurants within walking distance.
You enter the hotel through the area pictured above. Anyone entering the lobby must pass through a metal detector.
The lobby is modern and felt quite large and luxurious.
I loved the fresh flowers in the center.
The lobby is two stories with some seating on the main level and one level up.
You need to take an escalator or the stairs to get to the second level.
Check-In
Reception was on the back wall. We arrived around 3:00 PM and our suite was ready. The agent was pleasant and took us through the Grand Club hours and other amenities at the hotel. I did not need a late checkout, but she offered one. Our keys were then printed and we were off to the elevators.
The agent gave me the letter above that outlined the hours of the Grand Club.
We were also given vouchers for two free drinks at The Peak.
The elevators were down the hall to the left of reception.
The elevator lobby and hallways were clean and in good repair. I loved the wood throughout.
Grand Suite (3602)
The Grand Hyatt Manila has 461 rooms and suites.
The suite opened with a small foyer.
A mini bar area was closest to the door.
A Nespresso machine was on the counter.
Some bottles of water were also here. These are not just for drinking and should be used while brushing your teeth.
The refrigerator was below.
Drawers contained glassware, coffee, tea, condiments, a tea kettle, as well as snacks and wine for sale.
The living room was straight ahead with a couch and some tables.
A TV was mounted across from it.
A chair and a desk and chair were on the other side of the room.
The dressing area was between the living room and bedroom. It offered lots of space, an iron and ironing board, slippers, and a safe.
There was also a full-length mirror there.
The bedroom was next. It included a king-sized bed, two nightstands, and a TV.
The TV was on a table across from the bed.
The suite offered a great view.
The bathroom had two doors that connected it to the bedroom and living room. It offered a vanity with two sinks, a bathtub, a separate glassed-in shower, and a toilet.
The vanity offered lots of counter space.
A bar of BALMAIN brand soap was on the counter.
A bottle of lotion was mounted to the wall.
Other amenities were found in a drawer in the vanity.
The bathtub was across from the vanity.
The shower was a good size and included a bench. Water pressure and temperature were both good.
Large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were on the shower wall.
Grand Club
The Grand Hyatt Manila operates a nice lounge with lots to eat throughout the day. It was spacious and offered quality spreads for breakfast, tea time, and in the evening. There was also coffee and soft drinks on offer throughout the day. We stopped in the evening after we arrived and went back each morning.
Desks at the entrance check credentials and enforce a dress code. Casual is fine, but slippers, robes, and swimwear gets you bounced.
There was lots of open seating even when the lounge was busy.
A cooking station makes dishes to order and had a buffet.
Dishes include Lechon Pork Kare-Kare, Chicken Inasal, and Sautéed Vegetables.

I met some of our offshore team for lunch here. We had Peking duck and dim sum. I did not take any pictures, but the food is excellent.
The Peak
We had dinner one night at The Peak. It offers excellent views of the city.
We had an iced tea and a cocktail to start.
First courses included a Crab Cake and Italian Burrata.
For mains, we had Steak Tartare and Bacon & Cream Linguini with Shrimp. All of the food was well prepared and tasty.
The server was excited that we were in the Philippines for the first time and brought us this dessert on the house.
Public Areas & Amenities
In addition to the Grand Club, nine restaurants and bars, and meeting space, the Grand Hyatt Manila offers Illume Spa, a fitness center, and the pool (pictured above).
There was a garden near the pool.
We did not get to check out the Illume Spa.
The fitness center was a decent size and offered the standard array of equipment.
Overall Impression:
The Grand Hyatt Manila was the perfect hotel for our time in the city. It’s elegant and comfortable. I loved the Grand Club and hope to return in the future if I’m back in Manila.
