JetBlue was adding partners at a decent pace, but this seems to be reversing course as the carrier first lost TAP Air Portugal in September and now will lose its partnership with Japan Airlines. This one just began on April 23rd.

JetBlue’s TrueBlue members can book award tickets until March 31st. These can be flown after this date, but new bookings will not be accepted.

JetBlue has had a tumultuous year, but the shedding of these partners might make sense as it continues to cozy up to United Airlines through its “Blue Sky” tie up. I expect to see JetBlue and United to get closer and eventually it seems like United will make a play to buy the struggling airline. There is a lot for United to want there (gate at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), aircraft, etc.) and JetBlue really seems like it needs a lifeline and direction.
JetBlue still partners with Cape Air, Condor, Etihad, Hawaiian Airlines, Icelandair, and Qatar Airways.
Anthony’s Take: The JetBlue and Japan Airlines partnership offered some good redemptions through TrueBlue. These were hard to find, but if you did they were a good value. I’m closely watching the United arrangement to see what comes next as JetBlue continues to try to find its footing.
