WestJet is expanding its international route map once again with the announcement of new nonstop service between Edmonton International Airport (YEG) and Keflavík Airport (KEF). This is set to begin in summer 2026. The new route marks the airline’s first direct connection between Alberta’s capital and Iceland. It offers travelers an easy gateway to one of the world’s most exciting destinations.

Operating 1x weekly (starting on June 26th), the flight is a nice addition to WestJet’s growing international network and reinforces the carrier’s ongoing commitment to enhancing global connectivity. The airline continues to invest strategically in routes that strengthen Edmonton’s access to destinations across the Atlantic and beyond. Passengers on the new flights will fly aboard WestJet’s expanding Boeing 737 MAX fleet.

With the introduction of nonstop service to Keflavík Airport (KEF), WestJet provides easy access to Iceland’s surreal landscapes, including volcanoes, geothermal spas, waterfalls, and coastlines. The route also offers convenient access to broader European connections from Iceland. By continuing to diversify and grow its route network from Edmonton International Airport (YEG), WestJet solidifies its commitment to serving the region and provides travelers with more seamless options to explore global destinations.

John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, said:

Edmonton remains a vital cornerstone of WestJet’s network. The addition of new non-stop service between Edmonton and Iceland reaffirms our commitment to maintaining strong global connections for Albertans. Our summer 2026 schedule focuses on creating smart, sustainable connections while ensuring the city remains a key part of our Western Canadian network.”

Anthony’s Take: Iceland is a magical place and I love that so many airlines keep adding service there. This flight is a quick hop, but you’ll feel like you’re on another planet when you arrive.
