London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is the most commonly used airport in London for flights to/from the United States and specifically, New York City. American, Delta, JetBlue, and United all fly there (in addition to British Airways and Virgin Atlantic). Gates are incredibly hard to come by and several airlines were also running flights to London Gatwick Airport (LGW). This trend is reversing as Delta Air Lines is the latest carrier to announce that it is forfeiting slots and not bringing back its flights to/from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

British Airways and JetBlue also recently pulled the plug on flights between London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Flights to/from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Tampa International Airport (TPA) will still be operated by British Airways. It looks like only low-cost carrier, Norse Atlantic UK will fly to/from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) next year.

Anthony’s Take: There are still plenty of ways to get between New York and London. I prefer London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and find it easier to get to central London from there.
