On a recent business trip to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), I had a layover at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the opportunity to check out one of the three Admirals Clubs® found in the airport. I’ve been flying American more lately and have limited experience with these lounges, but enjoyed my time there and found the space to be comfortable and not too crowded.
The Admirals Club® has a desk to check credentials and then an elevator up to the lounge (my photos of both of these did not turn out well). This is the elevator upstairs.
Straight ahead, you’ll find another set of desks with agents to assist passengers with reservations.

Access is granted to passengers with memberships (purchased annually), one-time pass holders (earned from various credit cards or purchased for $79), Citi®/AAdvantage® Executive credit cardholders, customers in First or Business on a qualifying departing or arriving international, transcontinental or other domestic flight marketed and operated by American, a oneworld® airline or Aer Lingus, those with non-AAdvantage® oneworld® Emerald℠ and Sapphire℠ status, ConciergeKey® members, those ticketed in a premium cabin designated as Flagship® between the United States and Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand, South America (excluding Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela), select transcontinental flights also on a Flagship® designated ticket, select flights to Hawaii, and US military in unifrom. A same-day boarding pass is required to enter the American Admirals Club®.
Anthony’s Take: The Admirals Club® was pretty empty for most of my visit. I got some work done and had a snack while waiting for my next flight. The lounge offered a good amount of seating, decent food, and a nice design.
Bar
There is a full-service bar in the back corner of the lounge as well as a coffee machine, soda machine, and water dispensers in the lounge. The bar offers a small list of complimentary beverages including beer, wine, and mixed drinks, with many more for sale.
Coffee machine
Drip coffee, hot water, condiments, and tea
Soda machine
Water dispensers and iced tea
Food
Lunch was being served during my visit. The food is split between two buffets. They offered two hot dishes, soup, a noodle soup bar, cheese, meats, salad ingredients, snacks, and desserts.
Hawaiian Garlic Chicken
Rice
Cheese, meats, and vegetables
Salads, hummus, and pita
Chicken Noodle Soup
Build Your Own Thai Coconut Broth Bar
Fruit, snacks, and desserts

Seating & Decor
As mentioned above, there is a lot of seating in this Admirals Club®. There are lots of tables, high tops, armchairs, and other configurations around the lounge. I like that there were several areas. The design was minimalist, but felt clean and welcoming. There was also a lot of natural light.
More seating
A TV viewing area
This screen broke up the room.
Seats towards the back of the lounge.
I liked that these overlooked the tarmac.
Amenities
This Admirals Club® offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, showers, a kid’s room, the departure boards (pictured above), and the food and beverages mentioned.
The showers were not available during my visit.
The kid’s room was occupied, so I didn’t take photos. I like when lounges provide space for children to be away from the rest of the space (where they can make noise).
The business center was near the lobby.
Overall Impression:
I liked this Admirals Club® and will return when I’m flying American from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
