airBaltic is the flag carrier of Latvia as well as the launch and largest operator of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The airline operates hubs at Riga International Airport (RIX), Tallinn Airport (TLL), and Vilnius International Airport (VNO) and started flying back on October 1, 1995. To celebrate its 30th birthday, the airline is currently looking for the passengers that were on its first flight.

The first flight was from Riga International Airport (RIX) to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN). The airline wants to find those who were on board that flight and is not saying why. I’d assume that they are going to ask them to be in some sort of promotion for the anniversary celebration.

airBaltic has made news this year by officially becoming the first European airline to launch Starlink back in February. It offers high-speed internet for free across its entire fleet of Airbus A220-300s. It also abruptly let its long-time CEO go in March after a 14-year tenure and will hopefully be folded into the Lufthansa Group at some point. The German airline operator took a 10% stake in the airline and will hopefully go for more and an integration into its network and loyalty program (although none of that has been mentioned).

Anthony’s Take: It will be interesting to see what airBaltic does when it locates some of its first flyers. Hopefully, it gives them free flights, status, or something else. I’ve flown the Latvian carrier before and enjoyed the experience. We had the entire Business Class cabin to ourselves on one flight.
