After spending two nights at the Casa Olea Hotel (review here), we drove over to the Sheraton Lake Como Hotel for a night. This is currently the only Marriott-affiliated property close to Lake Como (this will soon change with the opening of the Lake Como Edition next month). The hotel is one of the nicer Sheraton hotels I have stayed at and offers a beautiful pool as well as comfortable rooms. It’s not on the lake, but is close enough to get to any of the lakeside towns you’d want to visit.
Anthony’s Take: We enjoyed our night at the Sheraton Lake Como Hotel. The employees were friendly, the pool is a highlight and was not too crowded, and the food on site is tasty. This hotel is a bit more family friendly than I would have liked, but it’s a good choice if you have a car and want to explore the nearby towns along the lake.
Booking
I booked a 1 King Bed, Pool View, Deluxe Guest Room on a Marriott Luminous rate. It was $695 per night including taxes and fees. The rate included a $100 credit to use at the hotel, breakfast for two, and a welcome amenity. I am a travel advisor and can book these rates that are not available without an agent. The cost was the same as if I had booked a “Member Flexible Rate,” but it included some nice additional perks. Reach out to me at anthony.losanno@fora.travel for assistance booking this hotel and many others. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 47,000 and 84,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We drove our rental car from the Casa Olea Hotel to this hotel. It took a little more than an hour for the 40-kilometer trip. Leaving, we drove to Silvio Berlusconi Milan Malpensa Airport (this took around 45 minutes).
Location
The Sheraton Lake Como Hotel is located in the charming town of Cernobbio. We walked around the area and loved all of the outdoor art. A large supermarket is within walking distance of the hotel. We walked there to grab some snacks.
We parked the rental car and took the elevator to the lobby. Check-in is to the right of the main entrance.
The lobby is fairly large and offers several seating areas.
More seating is just outside.
Check-In
We arrived around 3:00 PM and our room was ready. The agent checking me in was nice and she explained the benefits of booking a Marriott Luminous rate. There was some brief confusion around room type as she wanted to assign us to a room with two beds. I told her that I saw on the app that we were upgraded to a Deluxe Terrace Room. She said that was a mistake, but eventually got us into the upgraded room. Since breakfast was included in my rate, I took points as a welcome amenity. We were also given a voucher for two complimentary drinks. Keys were printed and we were on our way a moment later.
The elevators are near reception.
The elevator lobby on our floor was clean and well maintained.
Deluxe Terrace Guest Room, 1 King Bed, Balcony (315)
There are 137 rooms and suites at the hotel.
The room opened with a closet area. An extra pillow and a safe were found here.
There was also a luggage rack and a tote bag for purchase.
The bathroom was nearby. It held a vanity with a single sink, a toilet, bidet, and glassed-in shower.
The vanity offered a good amount of counter space.
GILCHRIST & SOAMES branded toiletries were on the counter.
The toilet and bidet were to the side and offered a bit of space from the sink.
The shower was an adequate size with good water pressure and temperature.
GILCHRIST & SOAMES branded shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted to the wall.
A mini-bar area was not far in the room. The refrigerator had drinks and snacks for sale along with plenty of room for guest use.
An illy coffee machine, tea kettle, cups, coffee and condiments were on top of the refrigerator.
The bedroom held a king-sized bed, two nightstands, a desk and chair, and an arm chair and table near the window.
A TV was mounted across from the bed.
The desk was on the same wall.
A chair and table were near the window.
I liked that the art gave a sense of place.
The balcony was small, but overlooked the pool.
These were delivered to the room. This is a pretty weak welcome amenity.
My husband was hungry, so we ordered him a burger. It was pretty overpriced and cost around $65 with delivery and fees.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the restaurant located one level above the lobby. The buffet normally costs €29 per adult, but it was included in my rate. The buffet had a nice selection of baked goods, fruit, hot dishes, cereal, cheese, a made-to-order omelette station, and more. Service was pretty bad with servers rarely coming by the table. I needed to walk to the host stand to order coffee.

Dinner
We used the $100 credit from our Luminous booking towards dinner at Kincho Restaurant & Bar by the pool. We enjoyed the meal and were happy to not have to travel as it rained throughout dinner.
We started with Mozzarella in Carrozza and Prosciutto on nice warm bread. Both were tasty.
I had Pasta al Tonno and liked the tuna fish in the dish.
My husband had risotto, which he thought was okay.
We drank wine with dinner. There are a good number of wines offered by the glass.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a spa, outdoor pool, fitness center, Wi-Fi, a bar, a playground, and several restaurants.
The pool was never too crowded while we were there.
We redeemed the voucher for two Aperol Spritzes by the pool.
Restrooms are by the pool.
The grounds are nicely manicured. I loved all of the flowers.
The hotel offers a Michelin-starred restaurant in addition to the one that we dined at while staying there.
The playground was towards the back of the property.
The fitness center is small and lacks equipment or weights.
Machines seemed old and dated.
There were no free weights (just an empty rack).
There were also restrooms in here.
We did not have the chance to use the spa.
The bar is next to the breakfast buffet. There were lots of open seats here during the day. If you’re looking for quiet, this is the place to go.
Overall Impression:
The Sheraton Lake Como Hotel is a nice property and offers a good spot from which to explore Lake Como. The pool is the highlight and we enjoyed our afternoon sitting by it.
