Delta Air Lines is launching its first-ever nonstop service from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to South America with flights to Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM). The seasonal route will run daily between December 4th and January 25th using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with 26 Delta One®, 18 Delta Premium Select, 21 Delta Comfort, and 151 Delta Main Cabin seats. This historic new route was added due to strong demand for Lima. It’s the most sought-after South American destination from Salt Lake City and makes for easy one-stop connections through from cities like San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and Boise.

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) serves as a major hub for Delta with up to 265 peak-day departures to 96 destinations. Delta has made significant investments in the airport including the 900,000-square-foot Terminal A that opened in 2020 and houses 50 Delta gates and nearly 20 restaurants and shops. Additional gates set to open by 2027 to support continued growth. Terminal A is also home to a  28,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club® (review here), which includes a Sky Deck with gorgeous mountain views and a 360-degree fireplace. Later this year, Delta will welcome a second Delta Sky Club® in Concourse B.

Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, said:

This new route is a significant milestone for Delta and our customers in Salt Lake City and throughout the Mountain West. With this expanded connectivity through our Salt Lake City hub, we’re proud to offer a faster, more convenient way to reach Lima and other major cities across South America.”

Utah Governor, Spencer J. Cox, added:

The creation of this first-ever nonstop gateway between Utah and South America is an exciting opportunity to build upon Utah’s growing importance on the world stage and it underscores Delta’s commitment to our state. As this new global connection to Utah begins, we’ll continue to look for more ways to open new doors for business development, economic trade, tourism and culture exchange for our state.”

Anthony’s Take: Lima and Peru were lots of fun to explore. I visited in 2023 and enjoyed my time there (minus the altitude sickness). It’s great to see Delta continuing to expand in Salt Lake City.
